- 38-year-old man with a PMH of mild Crohn’s disease of the terminal ileum (diagnosed at age 23, currently on mesalamine) presents to the IBD clinic with worsening diarrhea, hematochezia and abdominal pain. His symptoms have been progressively worsening over the past 3 weeks
- He is having 6-8 bowel movements per day, all loose, some bloody, with accompanying crampy abdominal pain.
- He is also nauseated and reports a reduced appetite. He is able to eat three meals per day, but worries that food is making his symptoms worse.
